Emigrant Poker Pros

15th April, also known as Black Friday changed the lives of many – this was the day when the FBI seized the domains of the biggest online poker rooms and one of the consequences is that Full Tilt Poker still remains closed. Perhaps those professional poker players were the most affected who made their living playing poker online. One day, they noticed that they can not log in to the sites, where they made their daily bread. Many of them felt that their country betrayed them and made them unemployed for no reason, so they had to leave the country to continue their chosen profession, or they had to choose another path.

Many top players in the world were affected and it was relatively easy for many of them to find another place to call their home base. Those who moved or set up a residency abroad and continued to play included the word’s perhaps most popular player Daniel Negreanu, high-stakes regular Phil Galfond, EPT-winner Kevin MacPhee, Gavin Hastings, Olivier “livb” Busquet, one of the best $5-$10 to $25-$50 no-limit hold’em cash games grinders around Andrew Brokos and one of the most creative online players Cole South. The most popular destination is Canada because of its closeness and the language.

In late July, WSOP champion Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond began his new life in Vancouver, Canada. He plays mainly high-stakes tables on PokerStars. Shortly after his relocation he tweeted he played happily and still loves the game.

Andrew “Foucault” Brokos also went to Canada where he strengthens team PokerStars Online. Brokos has been living nomadically in the U.S. for the 18 months prior to Black Friday, just travelling around the country playing online poker, so packing up and leaving the country was not too disruptive for him. Currently, he lives in the Canadian Rockies with his girlfriend.

Others, however, found it more difficult to find a place that they could call home and from which they could play poker. One of them is Dan “Jungelman12″ Cates, who still has not found a new homeland. He was unable to enter Canada because he did not have a valid visa – to play poker as a living you need a working visa. The same in Europe so he has not yet found a European country that will accept him. Previously, he was considering Portugal, currently he lives in London, but he is still not certain that England will be the final destination. He applied for the Canadian visa in the meantime. Cates, who won $ 7.5 million between 2010 and 2011, wanted to relocate from Seattle to Vancouver.

Many others are also looking for a place from which they can play at the virtual green felt on a daily basis. The 26 years old WSOP bracelet winner Joe Ebanks from Ohio with total career earnings of almost $5,000,000 wants to continue his online poker career and will probably move to Canada, England or somewhere else in Europe where online poker is legal.

These players are not fleeing some kind of a despot country in order to protect their living, they are simply trying to get out of a country where at present they can no longer make their livelihood. Taking advantage of the situation, PocketFives Poker Forum created the Poker Refugees service. PocketFives founder, Cal Spears explained that he noticed that relocation and its challenges had become a hot topic on the forum. The cost of the Poker Refugees service is $1,000 per person. They will help with a range of services, including finding a place to live, making travel plans, visa acquisition, getting a local bank account and more. The most popular destinations are Costa Rica, Panama and Canada but they can also assist in moves to regions in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia that are accepting poker pros.

Online Casinos – Feel Like A Lucky Winner Already

Online-casinos, over the years, have gained much popularity owing to the reasons like easy round the clock accessibility, free trials, regular bonus and more. Prior to placing a wager on any game, you must learn the credibility of the casinos.

Innovation and technology have made a huge difference to the entertainment industry. Over the years, Internet has been a fabulous source of never ending fun and thrill, be it online tours, movies, sports, online gaming, books and more. In the process of providing non-stop entertainment to everyone, online-casinos were also included a few years back for those who love gambling. Over the time, the whole concept was revolutionized and now there are tons of online-casinos out there.

For most people, visiting a casino isn’t possible due to various reasons such as traveling, job requirements and other commitments. It’s the reason online casinos came into being. In online-casinos, one can win a jackpot while sitting at home or working at the office. Benefits of gambling in an online casino are plentiful. While visiting a real casino, you may get stuck in traffic for hours whereas in an online casino, you can start gambling just about any time without worrying about reaching there after hours. Plus, Internet casinos are open 24/7 so you can gamble whenever you have the time.

Expenses are nominal in an Internet casino as you don’t have to travel to another city or country in order to try your luck in the best casinos. Traveling expenses include more than just the commutation fair. You have to pay for lodging, food and other essentials as well. On the other hand, in online casinos, the only money you put forward is the wager you place on the game. Several online-casinos offer perks like bonus which are uncommon to the real casinos. To attract new players, these are offered as sign-up bonus and provided on a regular basis (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) subsequently to retain the existing players. Prior to wagering in an Internet casino, you must check with the rules for bonus.

The most intriguing advantage of gambling online is the risk free trial offered by several casinos. With this, you can learn the strategy before playing for real. It’s also beneficial as each and every game in a casino is way different than the other. You can play all the games during the risk free trial without signing up. You can even measure how other players are doing in a particular game and figure out your chances of winning it.

The best part is that a single casino offers hundreds of games to play online so you get a large variety to choose from. With so many options and free trials, you can try your hand at as many games as you like and who knows what you may end up being good at. In addition to that, internet casinos offer many extra features that aren’t available at the real casinos. You can leverage on those extra features and options but don’t forget to go through the terms and conditions on the site. This will help you know everything beforehand and save you from any inconvenience later.

When it comes to gambling, choosing a reliable and credible casino is imperative. Make sure you visit an internet casino that keeps your sensitive information such as credit card details and personal info to itself. You can find several sites that provide all the info about casinos, games, news, slot information and everything else that’s related to online gambling. Learn everything you need to know about online casinos, move gambling to your computer and see for yourself in what ways it benefits you.

Choose the Right Decision on a Draw Heavy Omaha High Board

Let’s see an example. The game is six handed, $0.25/$0.50 blind level Omaha high. Your position is the hijack and you get dealt the 9dTds8Tc. The UTG raises to $1.75 and you make an easy call with connected cards, containing a pair and a flush draw, not even mentioning that you have position on your opponent. The button calls and the two blinds fold. The pot is $6 and the stack sizes are the following:

• UTG: $101.75
• You: $31.85
• Button: $84.81

The flop is: JdTh2d. This is a very interesting and at the same time great flop for your multi- draw Omaha high hand! You have a set of tens, a jack high flush draw and an open-ended straight draw. The problem is that your set is losing against a set of jacks, your flush draw is losing against higher flushes and your straight draw can only have the nuts with three cards (7h7s7c). Although you have to consider all these factors your hand is still strong enough with all the different draws and a set that it is impossible to fold. Basically it does not matter what your opponents have, you will not fold your hand. You have to bet, raise or reraise no matter what. You may even win right away. If you cannot take down the pot then you should push all-in with such a strong Omaha high holding.

The UTG checks, you bet half the pot ($3) and the Button folds. You could have bet bigger but your decision is OK. You have to vary your play. Now it is the UTG;s turn again who reraises to $15. Hmmm, this is an interesting play. Now we know he has a strong hand. If he has the current nuts or the set of jacks then you can win with a straight or a flush. You have very many outs in this case.

You reraise all-in with your remaining $27.10 and your opponent calls. Your opponent shows Qh6sJsJc for a set of jacks. You have to hit a straight or flush while dodging the full house (the Ts makes quad tens for you, also winning you the hand in case the remaining jack does not come). This is one of the very rare situations when the odds are 50%-50%! The turn is the Kc making the odds 65%-35% in favor of your opponent. The Jh on the river gives quads to your opponent and you lose the hand.

What can you do in such a situation? Not much. You had a very strong multi draw hand in Omaha high and in such situations you have to push all-in. You lost the battle but did not lose the war.
